Review: Nuri Sushi Factory

Hi everyone,

A few weeks back I visited Nuri Sushi Factory with my sister and her husband for lunch. It was pleasantly empty even though it was on a Saturday. The first time I had Nuri Sushi, the place was packed and I waited forever to get my little box of sushi so I was actually quite chuffed that it was empty.
I'm sure most of you know and love Nuri Sushi Factory but for those of you who don't let me break it down for you. Nuri Sushi Factory is situated in the heart of Cape Town's Central Business District and they specialise in sushi, but not your typical salmon nigiri or spicy prawn inari type sushi.
Whenever I speak to people about Nuri Sushi Factory, they will always bring up the Volcano which is basically Futomaki on steriods. They do a type of sushi with biltong which I thought was kind of cool because biltong is like a South African thang. They do fried sushi, no rice sushi and seafood salads as well. You can check out their menu over here. For all my Muslim brothers and sisters, you can request Halaal soya sauce which is a mushroom based soya sauce :).
Personally, I find Nuri Sushi Factory to be okay (Please don't kill me Nuri fans) because I prefer sushi with a fresher taste and I think all the sauce kind of hides that raw taste of sushi. I won't deny that Nuri Sushi Factory is really satisfying but I won't be able to eat it every day like I would Pick n Pay's sushi. It would be a once in a while spoil thing ;)
You can find Nuri Sushi Factory at 8 Parliament Street, Cape Town CBD.

I recently discovered OrderIn and it's probably the best thing ever! OrderIn is a delivery service that delivers food right to your door or you can place your order and pick it up in store to beat queue. I ordered Nuri Sushi last week for lunch and got it delivered to my work address. I ordered my sushi before lunch and got it during my lunch time, which worked out perfectly! It's so simple to register and to place your first order. Also, if you use my promo code, FB022386, you can get R20 off your first order :D In the image below is The "R & R" combo and Veg Rainbow Reloaded.
What are your thoughts on Nuri Sushi?

Until next time..

Lush Weekly: #14 Lush South Africa Mother's Day 2015

Hi everyone,

It's that time again where Lush releases a new collection and my bank account starts weeping. This years Mother's Day collection was a bit of a disappointment for me because there were products that I adored from last years collection that never made a comeback *sobs* however, Lush has released a brand new collection except for two repeats from last year.

Mother's Day 2015:
Mom – she’s a caretaker, a listener, a chauffeur, a doctor, a chef and a friend. Sometimes it can be hard work, so this Mother’s Day treat Mom like the queen she is with a luxurious LUSH invention. Handmade with the finest essential oils, softening butters and beautiful fragrances, each one is sure to help Mom escape from reality, even if only for a short while, and leave her feeling soft, relaxed and ready to take on anything! *Lush.co.za
Yummy Mummy Shower Gel:
This super shimmery shower gel will have you turning heads (and noses!). Geranium oil, Brazilian orange oil and tonka absolute are expertly blended together to create one of our most intoxicating, yet delicate, fragrances: Yummy Mummy. Fruity, sweet and dashed with a hint of luster, this shower gel will leave skin unimaginably soft and smelling like scrumptious strawberries. It’s well deserving of its name!

Yummy Mummy shower gel is definitely my favourite product from this range because I love limited edition shower gels and because the scent is to die for! Even though it shares the same scent D'Fluff Shaving Soap, I find that this smells more likes pears than strawberries and cream. My nose might just be a tad bit weird. But the scent is really lovely, subtle but lovely. I had to grab a 500g because the scent is really so freaking good!
Mother Superior Bubblebar:
This one is the Mother of all Bubble Bars! Mother Superior is as fragrant as blooming cherry blossoms in the spring. Crumble her under running water to release that familiar and intoxicating floral scent as the tub fills with a mountain of skin-softening bubbles. Whether you’re picking up one for your own Mother or for yourself, this is one habit you’ll want to break again and again.

Mother Superior bubblebar is just the weirdest little bubble bar I've ever seen. It kind of reminds me of Finn from Adventure Time because of the colours. Sharing its scent with one of Lush's best sellers, Rub Rub Rub Scrub, however it's a bit more subtle. Think of a clean and fresh scent. I actually can't wait to use this bubble bar because I like the scent. I've been keeping my bubble bars for those chilly nights because who doesn't enjoy a hot bubble bath on a cold night, right??
Love You Mom Soap:
Our limited edition Love You Mom soap is gorgeous and elegant, making it perfect for any Mom. Handcrafted with mimosa and jasmine absolutes, this sudser features an original LUSH scent that’s designed to relax and calm the mind. It’s a great bathing companion for busy Moms, giving them a reason to inhale and exhale to find a little peace and calm in their hectic days. Bonus, they’ll be heavenly soft and scented, too.

The moment I smelt this soap, I was immediately reminded of another familiar scent. Love You Mom soap shares the same scent as Floating Flower bathbomb (As well as the Lust perfume) which was released this year in the Valentine's Day collection. The scent of the soap is way more stronger than the bath bomb so I'm not sure if I will be able to deal with this soap when I use it because I wasn't really keen on the Floating Flower bathbomb. The soap, before it got cut, looked extremely beautiful. Check it out here.
Secret Garden Bathbomb:
This beautiful bomb may look simple, but inside is a secret... it blooms in the tub! When you drop it in the water, Secret Garden froths about you, releasing a fragrant bouquet of rose absolute and sweet wild orange oil, along with rose petals, marigold petals and blue mallow flowers. It has a frothy outer layer, creating a light blanket of foam to sink beneath as your cares float away.

Back for another year, Secret Garden might look small but as soon as you pop it in the bath it explodes with bright colours and a lovely rose scent. I think this bathbomb is extremely adorable because of the bright pink flower in the middle. Even though it's a small bathbomb, it's a slow fizzing bathbomb which kind of makes up for the fact that it's so small
Rose Bombshell Bathbomb:
Rose Bombshell is a brand new LUSH invention! Drop this one into the tub, and as the outer Bath Bomb shell fizzes away it releases a luxurious cascade of real red rose petals and softening salts. Soy milk powder creates creamy, skin-softening waters, and the original fragrance of rose oil, rosewood and orange flower absolute carries your troubles far, far away. It's a whole new level of bathing luxury, just for Mother's Day!

I love the Lush Rose Jam scent but this is definitely not even to Rose Jam. The scent is more floral and powdery. It's not a bad thing because some people might like that type of rose scent but I'm not the biggest fan. Judging from the reviews I've read, this bath bomb seems to be a hit so I'm excited to try it. Hidden inside the bathbomb is a dried rose bud and once the bathbomb hits the water, the rose petals emerge from the bathbomb and floats around in the bath. Nice touch, Lush.
Rose Bubblebar:
Blended into the beautiful pink and white swirls of this bar is the fresh lemon and rose scent of our classic Amandopondo Bubble Bar. With Fair Trade, organic cocoa butter and a gorgeous glimmer mixed in, Rose will create a luxurious, fluffy, skin-softening soak. It’s made with a special extra dense formula, so you can break one bar in half and create two fragrant, bubbling baths.

This bubblebar is definitely one of the prettiest bubblebars I've seen. It kind of looks like The Comforter bubblebar because of the pink and white swirls but it also coated in beautiful lustres, which makes it look even better than The Comforter bubblebar! I'm excited to try this bubblebar out because it contains cocoa butter which is great for the skin and especially during winter, your body needs all that lovely moisturising products!

I really wish that Lush brought the Mumkin Bubblebar back this year because I absolutely love it. It's one of my favourite bubblebars and I'm not really a lover of Lush bubblebars.

There are two more products that is included in the Mother's Day 2015 collection that was sold during Easter in South Africa. You can check out my Lush South Africa Easter 2015 haul to see those two products :)

Have you tried anything from this years Mother's Day collection? Let me know :)

*Side note - My brushes are dirty. I know :(

Until next time..

Lush Weekly: #13 Lush Celestial Face Moisturiser

Hi everyone,

This week on Lush Weekly, I have a product that I've re-purchased thrice already because it's that amazing!

Our moisturisers are the product of over 30 years of research, development and experience. Everyone's skin is uniquely different and has a variety of needs depending on diet, lifstyle and climate. We believe in helping you choose a moisturiser that works wonderfully with your skin, whether that means using it once a day or once a week. So, which products should you use? Good question! We encourage you to take a read through our range to find yours!Lush.co.za
What Lush has to say about this face moisturiser:
Heavenly moisturiser to make sensitive skin happy. Although it's true that some perfumes can irritate sensitive skin, like stronger spice oils, others are really good for preventing redness and reactions. Natural vanilla absolute is one of them. We use it in Celestial for its soothing effect and intoxicating scent. The dove orchid is used in Chinese herbalism to prevent inflammation; it is the only orchid with a delicate and delightful scent. Almond milk is also wonderful for calming the skin. So, there's really no need to use an odourless skin cream when you can happily wear Celestial.

Ingredients:
Vanilla Water (Vanilla planifolia), Almond Oil (Prunus dulcis), Almond Milk (Prunus dulcis), Glycerine (Glycerine), Cocoa Butter (Theobroma cacao), Fresh Dove Orchid Extract (Dendrobium), Cetearyl Alcohol (Cetearyl Alcohol), Stearic Acid (Stearic Acid), Triethanolamine (Triethanolamine), Propylparaben (Propylparaben)

What The Jam Jar has to say about this face moisturiser:
Celestial is my favourite Lush moisturiser because it does wonders to my skin. I have a mild case of seasonal eczema and when applying this moisturiser on my face there is absolutely no irritation.

I prefer using this moisturiser at night because it does kind of make my skin look a bit oily but once my skin soaked up all that goodness, my skin looks lovely. It has a subtle almond scent. Almond oil and almond milk is really good for the skin because they are high in vitamin E. Fresh dove orchid extract is another great oil for the skin because it helps clear up problematic skin with it's gentle healing properties.

I usually use a pea size and a bit for my entire face because a little goes a long way. This product works great with Lush's Angels on Bare Skin cleanser and Lush's Tea Tree toner water.
Price:
R195.00 // 45g

Would I purchase this product again?
YES!

Have you tried any of Lush moisturisers?

Until next time..

DIY: Dark Brown to Ultraviolet Hair

Hi everyone,

For quite sometime I've been wanting to dye my hair a different colour. Since last year I've been dying my hair plum which shows as a redish brownish purplish colour (depends on the lighting) and after nagging my dad to agree with my drastic change of hair colour, he finally agreed. I opted for a purple colour seeing that my favourite colour is actually purple and not pink.

Initially I wanted to dye my hair with Manic Panic Purple Haze but when I went to buy the dye they didn't have Purple Haze in the Manic Panic Amplified range so I took the closet colour which was Manic Panic Ultra Violet.

I spoke to one of the Lushies at Lush Cavendish who has gorgeous lilac hair about how she done it because there is no way I was going to get it done professionally because it's hella expensive. Heather gave me a step by step explanation of what she does to get her hair the colour she wants. She suggested Kair's highlighting kit to bleach my hair and then use the hair dye that I prefer and then treat my hair with one of the Lush hair treatments.

To achieve the look I wanted, I used:
2 x 100ml Kair Blonde High-light refill kit (Available at Clicks)
1 x 118ml Manic Panic Ultra Violet Amplified (Available at Wildfire Piercing Parlor in Long Street)
When I bleached my hair on Thursday, my hair was light brown except for my regrowth which was blonde so obviously I had to dye it again. I waited until Sunday to do the second bleaching process and then my hair was way lighter than the bleach process from Thursday. I should've done another bleach process because then my hair would've been even lighter but I couldn't wait because the entire process was such a schlep because I only dyed my last layer so sectioning my hair took some time and it was extremely frustrating.

After the second bleach process, I rinsed my hair without any shampoo or conditioner, dried it and then applied the ultra violet. I kept the ultra violet colour on for an hour and a bit and then rinsed the colour out and then washed my hair with Lush's Honey I Washed my Hair shampoo bar and Tropical Jungle solid conditioner and then styled it normally.
My hair is not fragile after the bleaching or anything so that's kind of cool. Thankfully my hair is strong (Thanks Mom and Dad) so there wasn't any breakage. I'm really happy with the outcome seeing that it was my first attempt and I think my sister done such a good job. It's subtle but as soon as I put up my hair it's party, party, party!

I would highly recommend the products I used because it's affordable and good quality. This costed me less than R500 where if I went to a salon it would've probably been over R1000. SCORE!

I so badly want to do my entire head but agh, it will gradually happen :)

Until next time..
