Lush Weekly: #8 Lush South Africa New Shampoo Bars

Hi everyone,

On Wednesday at 7am, Lush South Africa released their January newsletter and I totally lost my sh...
Last year around November, Lush released 6 new shampoo bars and I was over the moon! I immediately asked my local Lush about it and no one could tell me the ETA of these shampoo bars. I'm sure you can imagine my excitement when I read the January newsletter because it came unexpected.
I absolutely love Lush shampoo bars because it does wonders to my hair and because it doesn't really get wasted (like you know when you put liquid shampoo in your hand and some manages to slip out of your hand, yeah, so none of that with the shampoo bars). It is a bit expensive but it lasts about 60 - 90 washes, obviously depending on how long your hair is and how thick it is. My hair is medium length and is kind of thin so I do get my moneys worth when I buy a shampoo bar.
I picked up 3 out of the 6 new shampoo bars. I really wanted to get Lullaby and Montalbano but I stopped myself lol.
However, my brother and his family surprised me with the other 3 shampoo bars for my birthday! ERMAGERD! :D I guess I don't need anymore shampoo lol.
♡ Brazilliant - R95.00 | 55g
Get Rio-lly good hair with this shampoo bar, reminiscient of the Brazilian sun. Whole fresh organic oranges are packed with nutrients which will make your locks super shiny. Andiroba oil makes this especially moisturising when use on curly or Afro-Caribbean hair. We've also added ylang ylang oil and sweet orange oil to treat your hair to tropical fragrance.

I absolutely love the scent of Brazilliant. I was not going to pick it up but then the Lushies at Cavendish told me how amazing it is and I take their word for it because they wouldn't steer me wrong lol.
♡ Honey I Washed My Hair - R95.00 | 55g
Deliciously toffee-scented, this syrupy sweet bar will make your hair turn heads (and noses). Honey is renowned for adding softness and shine to locks. To top it all off uplifting sweet wild orange and bergamot oils create an aroma that transports your troubles away.

I mainly took this shampoo bar because its scented with one of my favourite Lush scents. I've used It's Raining Men shower gel on my hair before and I'm sure it will have the same amazing effects on my hair as the shower gel had.
♡ Jason and The Argan Oil - R95.00 | 55g
On a quest for stronger, shinier, softer hair? Try this argan oil-packed, Rose Jam-scented bar. Argan oil is combined with glycerine to give your hair touchable softness and lustrous shine. From this solid foundation restorative rose absolute and oil balances the scalp making this bar particularly perfect for setting fair hair ablaze with brightness and strength.

I've been using Rose Jam shower gel on my hair and ohmygoodness, my hair felt and looked gorgeous (Toot-toot. That's me tooting my own horn) and to be honest, this shampoo bar has the same effect on my hair as the shower gel. Not only is the smell of Jason and The Argan Oil so delicious, it's really good for the hair as well. One thing I dislike about this shampoo bar is that it kind of weighs my hair down.
♡ Lullaby - R95.00 | 55g
The calming combination of chamomile, ground almonds and oat milk gently soothe the scalp. Raise the spirits with Tunesian sourced neroli oil, proven to aid the release of serotonin (the happy hormone!) Lavender oil and absolute relax and balance, ideal for children two years and up; pass over the hair once or work into a light lather in the hands first.

Finally a shampoo bar that is mild enough for kids to use! The scent of Lullaby reminds me of Angels on Bare Skin, I think it's the ground almonds that I'm picking up. One of the Lushies at Cavendish said it reminds her of Fresh Farmacy because of the chamomile. Hmmm. Either way, it smells really nice.
♡ Montalbano - R95.00 | 55g
Solve the case with this citrusy shampoo bar that promises serious shine. Green olives improve the tensile strength of hair whilst cleansing rosemary absolute, Sicilian lemon oil and freshly squeezed lemon juice make hair gleam from root to tip.

I'm so excited to use this sucker because the description sounds amazing. Not only does it sound like a good dish created by Chef Ruben but its also something different for my hair because I haven't used anything with the type of ingredients in the shampoo bar. Montalbano smells of sweet lemonade.
UGH. SO. FREAKING. YUMMY!
♡ Copperhead - R105.00 | 55g
Don’t be late for work, invigorate with a double shot of coffee grounds and roasted cocoa extract. Persian red henna leaves hair feeling deeply conditioned and gloriously glossy. Escape the daily grind with Fair Trade vanilla absolute and vetiver oil for a rich, enticing aroma. Great for darker shades and those with red tones.

I wasn't going to buy Copperhead mainly for its smell. It's a strong scent that I can't even describe. For those of you who don't know, I've been dying my hair red / violet for the past year. It doesn't really show because my hair is dark, however when my hair is in brighter lighting, it shines a pretty redish purplish colour so I think this shampoo will work well with the tones of my hair. So besides the weird smell, I'm actually really excited to try this shampoo.
And that's it for Lush South Africa's new shampoo bars. I'm really excited to see which shampoo bar works well for me. I will definitely do a full review on my favourite.
I've been a big fan of NEW and Karma Komba. I would use NEW when I need a good deep cleaning and when I feel my hair needs a bit of a kick and Karma Komba I would use every other day.

Lush has a big variety of shampoo bars that will suit your hair type.

I would highly suggest getting a Lush shampoo bar tin (It's not a need but it will prolong the life span of your shampoo bar) to store the shampoo bar in and after using it allow the shampoo bar to dry outside of the bathroom in the lid of the tin before popping it back into the tin. When I first used Karma Komba, I made the mistake of putting the shampoo bar into the tin and closing it. When I wanted to use it for my next wash, my shampoo bar was all slimy and gross looking. You will thank me in the future.

Until next time..
xx

  1. Ooh, saw these at the V&A last weekend, but left them because I'm all stocked up with shampoo. Montalbano smells sooo good! (I bought a lip colour from Lush, btw. It is AMAZING.)
