Review: Hey Gorgeous Body Scrub + Body Butter

Hi everyone,

A few weeks ago, I received a little package that contained a body scrub and body whipped mousse from Hey Gorgeous. Hey Gorgeous is a proudly South African beauty brand that makes all their delicious products with the highest quality organic and natural ingredients.

Okay, let's get into my review on these two products.

Cappuccino Body Scrub Bliss:

I love the occasional body scrub but I found myself using this scrub almost every second night in the shower. The scrub is very scruby, meaning it's a really hard scrub. Even though it is that scruby and hard on the skin, the essential oils inside this scrub makes up for it. It is kind of oily but once I got out of the shower, before drying off, I would rub all those oils in. It basically felt like I scrubbed and moisturised all at once. I think it's perfect for winter because I don't have to worry about moisturising after my shower. I can just put on my jammies and  jump into bed. The only think I dislike about this product is the scent. I'm not a lover of coffee and I prefer a sweeter scent. But other than that, I can't find anything else wrong with this product.

Did you know that coffee beans can temporarily get rid of cellulite because of the caffeine and antioxidants found in coffee? No? Yeah, me too. Also, Hey Gorgeous, are you trying to tell me something??? (JK...Or am I??? No seriously, JK)
According to Hey Gorgeous, the benefits of the caffeine include increased circulation and it helps to shift those pockets of cellulite. The oils will leave your skin soft, smooth and supple. And indeed it did leave my skin feeling ah-ma-zing!

Some of the yummy ingredients includes; Sugar, Ground Coffee Beans, Grapeseed, Apricot Kernel, Olive Oil, Jojoba and Essential Oils.

This retails for R110.00 for a 250g tub.

Choconut Body Butter:

If you know about Hey Gorgeous products, you know that all of their body butters and whipped mousses smells good enough to eat! And it's weird because it smells as if it's supposed to go in my mouth but it's for my outside body??? What sorcery is that???

This deliciously scented body butter is made with all natural and organic products which is a plus if you have sensitive skin like me. I think by now that most of you know that I suffer from seasonal eczema, so basically during Winter my skin starts to flare up. So this body butter came at the perfect time. I usually have eczema inside my elbows (does that make sense?) and when applying this body butter made it feel so much better because it has moisturising ingredients like Shea butter, Cacao butter, Coconut and Jojoba, which is good for sensitive and dry skin.

Even though this is a body butter, it doesn't leave any oiliness. It absorbed so quickly into my skin leaving it looking moisturised, glowing and smelling like a yummy baked good.

This retails for R175.00 for a 250g tub.

Get social with Hey Gorgeous:

Until next time...

Recipe: Popcorn Marshmallow Bars

Hi everyone,

So this week, I threw together a few ingredients to come up with an odd recipe inspired by SORTED Food. This recipe, like all my other recipe posts, is hella easy to put together and it takes less than an hour! We all know that I cannot bake to save my life so no bake recipes are a plus for me.

Anyways, let's get to making Popcorn Marshmallow Bars! Yay!
Popcorn Marshmallow Bars:
♡ Freshly popped popcorn
♡ Oreos
♡ Astros
♡ White marshmallows
♡ White chocolate (Optional)

I didn't add any quantities because I kind of just winged it and so should you! :D Yay for being spontaneous!

Step 1:
Pop some corn. I used that popcorn bowl thingy that you just make popcorn with by putting it in the microwave for 2 minutes.

Step 2:
Prepare your pot by coating the pot with Spray n Cook and add 2 table spoons of butter at a low heat. Once butter is melted, add white marshmallows and a tea spoon of vanilla essence. Keep an eye on the marshmallows because it melts really quick and it can burn really quick too.

Step 3:
While the marshmallows are melting, quickly mix the Oreo cookies, Astros and freshly popped popcorn.

Step 4:
Once marshmallows are melted, pour marshmallow fluff onto the Oreo cookies, Astros and popcorn mixture. Mix well. It will be a bit tough to mix but it comes together eventually.

Step 5:
Transfer into glass dish and with a slightly wet hand, pat the mixture down firmly.

Step 6: (Optional)
Melt some white chocolate and drizzle over popcorn marshmallow bars. Pop in the fridge for an hour and then slice it up into bars or squares.

Okay, I know what some of you might be thinking, "Ew, that's gross", well no, you shut up. Have you ever tasted popcorn and Astros??? No?? What is your life even, bro? Anyways, it tastes like popcorn and Astros on steroids. Even my mother liked it and she never likes the stuff I make lol.

SORTED Food used pretzels and M&Ms but unfortunately, the store I was at didn't have those ingredients.

If you decide to give this recipe a go, let me know :) I would love to see how yours turned out!

Cotton On x Mandela Foundation

Hi everyone,

The Cotton On Group is thrilled to announce its philanthropic arm, the Cotton On Foundation, has entered into a groundbreaking partnership with the Nelson Mandela Foundation, demonstrating its commitment to building healthy and sustainable futures for South African communities in need.

The partnership will see the two Foundations come together to focus on areas in line with the Cotton On Foundation’s pillars of education, health, sustainability and infrastructure. These areas of focus will include four key programs that will support five schools with libraries, a food security program and toilet infrastructure, as well as a separate education-based initiative supporting women’s health in rural communities.

The Cotton On Foundation will partner with the Nelson Mandela Foundation to deliver these programs through the sale of its products in Cotton On, Cotton On KIDS, Typo, Rubi Shoes and Cotton On Body stores across South Africa. How awesome is that, Jammys?

Instead of cutting cheques the Foundation team rolls up their sleeves and gets their hands dirty to help out mates in need.

Through its partnership with the Nelson Mandela Foundation, the Cotton On Foundation will support the following projects, which will be rolled out throughout South Africa:

The Mandela Day Libraries: will improve literacy nationwide and will be supported by the provision of educational books, librarian up-skilling and e-literacy through a further partnership with Vodacom and their “digital classroom” e-learning hubs

The Mandela Day Food Security Programme: will take place during the July and December school holidays in support of the Dept. of Education Daily Nutrition Programme, ensuring a continuation of learning and development of scholars.

Caring4Girls (Trek4MandelaDay) – Imbumba Foundation: is a menstrual hygiene programme for underprivileged girls in rural communities providing them with puberty and menstrual hygiene training and support.

Toilet Infrastructure through Amalooloo:  is aimed at the reduction and ultimate elimination of pit toilet infrastructure in schools. The Cotton On Foundation will partner the rollout of such infrastructure in conjunction with the Depts. Of Education and Social Development.

This makes me feel so much better after breaking the bank at Cotton On :D This calls for a shopping spree!

Recipe: Vanilla Cupcakes with Marshmallow filling and Oreo Base

Hi everyone,

Last week Saturday, my niece and I baked some cupcakes. I honestly had no idea what I was doing and I hoped and prayed that whatever I was doing would have a good outcome otherwise my mother would play the "I told you so" card on me lol.

Anyways, the cupcakes came out good and my family enjoyed it (except my sister but whatever. idk). I've always been a fan of baking but I'm not really good at it lol. I try though.
My niece and I made a little concoction that involves chocolate chips, marshmallow and Oreos. Sounds yummy right? We basically just mixed err'thang together and came up with this.....

Vanilla Cupcakes with Marshmallow filling and Oreo Base:

♡ Vanilla Muffin Mix
♡ 12 Oreo Cookies
♡ 6 White Marshmallows, halved
♡ Chocolate Flavoured Drops
♡ Purple Glitter (Optional)

Step 1:
Spray muffin tray with Spray n Cook and line with cupcake cases.

Step 2:
Fill cupcake cases with Oreo cookies.

Step 3:
Put white marshmallows sticky side down on the Oreos.
Tip: Spray the knife with some Spray n Cook before cutting the marshmallows. It just makes life a bit easier.

Step 4:
Make the vanilla muffin mix as per instructions on the box. Layer the muffin mix on the Oreo and marshmallow. Make sure it covers the Oreo and marshmallow completely.
Some of mine weren't covered completely and the marshmallow basically oozed out of the cupcake.

Step 5:
Sprinkle chocolate chips onto each cupcake. Go apeshit, boo.

Step 6:
Bake for 20 - 25 minutes. Once done, set aside to cool and then decorate. Seeing that I was baking with my niece who loves sparkly things, she decided to sprinkle some purple glitter on each cupcake.

So seeing that this was just something that wasn't really planned, there were a few hiccups that I picked up.
- Firstly, I used some pink marshmallows and the cupcakes had this strawberry taste which I thought didn't really go well with the Oreo cookie and chocolate chips. If I make this again, I will only use white marshmallows because it has a vanilla taste to it.
- Secondly, some of the marshmallows oozed out the sides that I didn't fill completely and the results was an empty center lol. Luckily not all of them were like that and some only failed (shew).
- Thirdly, don't think that the cupcake isn't baked completely because when you poke that knife or toothpick in the cupcake, it will come out looking like the cupcake isn't baked through but it is and it's just the moistness of the cupcake and marshmallow combined but I can assure that it was baked completely and when it cools down, the cupcake becomes solid and you're left with a sweet, yummy, gooey, marshmallowey center.

If you decide to give this recipe a go, let me know :) I would love to see how yours turned out!
Also, I will be doing an Oreo series of recipes because Oreo Cookies are amazing and they're gifts from Unicorns to mankind. Yay for that!

First Look: Lush Error 404 Bath Bomb

Hi everyone,

A few days ago, I received a package all the way from UK filled with a ton of Lush and Lush Kitchen products. There's one item that I was really excited about getting because it's a limited edition and I was so bummed that I couldn't get it when it was released.

I can't remember where I saw that there was a mystery bath bomb hidden on the site but as soon as I saw it, I immediately got to my laptop and Googled the shit out of this mystery bath bomb and I found it! I found the gorgeous, limited edition Error 404 bath bomb! It was basically like an adult Easter hunt because it's an egg shaped bath bomb and it was a hidden object on the website. I thought that was really clever because it was the during Easter and shortly after Lush released their Easter collection.

The only way you could find this bath bomb was to experience the error 404 page. This bath bomb was £0.00 but only shipping had to be paid for. The error message is still on the site but you won't be able to purchase the bath bomb.

What Lush has to says about this bath bomb:
This domain does not exist, but with geranium oil and orange flower absolute, this lustre-filled bomb is filled with a sumptuous floral fragrance to comfort you in the bath.

Sodium Bicarbonate, Citric Acid, Rosewood Oil, Geranium Oil, Orange Flower Absolute, Cream of Tartar, Gardenia Extract, Water (Aqua), Lilial, Citronellol, Coumarin, Geraniol, Linalool, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Lauryl Betaine, Perfume, Antique Gold Lustre, Bronze Splendour Lustre, Glacier Blue Lustre, Colour 42053.

Seeing that this is a limited edition bath bomb, I don't want to use it lol. But I really want to experience the amazingness of this bath bomb because I read a few good reviews about this bath bomb. So keep an eye out for a review soon, Jammys :)

Error 404 bath bomb, you are gorgeous.

Until next time..
