Review: Lush Sakura Bath Bomb

Hi everyone,

Lush recently launched a few new products and it's already available online (yay!) for those not close to a Lush store! The are 5 brand new products (some are old to other countries Lush) and then 4 products that has been relaunched as Self-preserving products.

I love that Lush South Africa is finally getting some items that other Lush stores have as permanent products. So whoohoo for Lush South Africa!!

I only picked up two of the new products because I have way too many solid lotions / massage bars and I don't have much interest for Lush body conditioners (they smell amazing but I don't think that I would use it as often as I should). On my next visit, I'm definitely going to pick up Sandstone soap. I tried it out in store and AH! it made my skin feel so soft.

Sakura Bath Bomb:
Sakura | R44.50
What Lush has to say about this bath bomb:
A refreshing floral dip into springtime
When the blossoms burst forth in spring, it’s a tradition to take a picnic and bottle of sake and enjoy the beauty. Noriko, one of our product inventors, hails from Japan and this beautiful Bath Bomb represents what it’s like to be in a park while the breeze blows through the blossoms in the trees. Instead of heading to the park, lay back in serene waters while the gorgeous scents of mimosa and jasmine envelop you to give you the joyful feeling of springtime. Sakura: simple, elegant, and endearingly beautiful bathing.

Sodium Bicarbonate , Citric Acid , Fragrance , Fine Sea Salt (Sodium Chloride) , Lemon Oil (Citrus limonum) , Mimosa Absolute (Mimosa tenuiflora) , Orange Flower Absolute (Citrus Aurantium amara) , Jasmine Absolute (Jasminum officinale) , Gardenia Extract (Gardenia jasminoides) , *Citral , *Limonene , FD&C Red No. 4 , FD&C Blue No. 1

Featured Ingredient:
Mimosa Absolute (Mimosa tenuiflora)

What The Jam Jar has to say about this bath bomb:
I had a lot of high hopes for this bath bomb but it seems as if Sakura is just really pretty on the outside but in the bath, it's kind of plain and un-Lush like. I kind of like the scent but it wasn't really what I thought it would smell like. The scent is very clean and fresh, very different to the Lush scents I'm normally drawn to (sweet, spicy, certain floral scents). Surprisingly, I really enjoyed this scent. It smells a lot like Rub Rub Rub shower scrub. I expected the scent to be way more stronger but it wasn't.

I liked the fact that this bath bomb doesn't really leave much residue but it's still moisturizing for the skin. Well, it's not as moisturizing as Butterball but it doesn't dry out my skin and I have really sensitive that can flare up and go batshit crazy. It's safe to say that it doesn't dry out my skin but doesn't give the best moisture either.

If you know Lush bath bombs, you would know that most of them have cute fun things either hidden inside or confetti or bright colours spewing out of the bath bomb. You know that fun shit happens as soon as you drop it inside the bath. But Sakura was kind of anti-climatic. I was waiting for something awesome to happen but eh, nothing. It is a solid bath bomb (nothing fancy in the middle) so it fizzes really quickly. It probably fizzes for like a minute and a bit. I really like the way Sakura looks before it's in the bath, though. Like how freaking gorgeous is that blue and pink accents??

If you want to impress someone with a Lush bath bomb, this is definitely not the bath bomb to use. It's kind of plain. However, as plain as it is, I did actually enjoy it. I'm sure if I had to make a bath cocktail with a bath melt and bubble bar then this bath bomb wouldn't be as lame as I'm making it sound lol.

I honestly think that an older crowd (I mean like 30s + and not old as in old but older than me -_-) would really enjoy this bath bomb because it is a bit on the mature side of Lush bath bombs. But that's just my opinion :)

Would I purchase this again?
Uhm...I like it but I don't like it. It won't be restocked in my Lush stash.
Maybe if I have some extra cash then I would.

What are your thoughts on Sakura?

Until next time..

Review: Rain African Tree Mist

Hi everyone,

The lovely people over at Rain Africa sent me 2 of their amazing Rain African Tree Mists to try out. I must say that I am absolutely loving the Black Bark tree mist. It is so refreshing on a gloomy day!

But what are Tree Mists???

"From a rare forest flourishing in the harsh dune environment of Africa’s southern coast come the therapeutic essences of ancient, healing trees.

The air-borne aromatics emitted by trees have been the subject of much recent scientific study, and there is growing evidence of their therapeutic and invigorating effects, including significantly boosting the immune system.

Rain’s Tree Mists capture these subtle fragrances and bring the healing power of the forest to your home, your workspace and to your skin.

Essences from the following trees, from the Platbos forest near Gansbaai in the Western Cape of South Africa, are used in the Tree Mists range, blended with carefully-selected essential oils."
source: Rain Africa

There are various scents to suit everyone's preference.
Scents include;
♡ Black Bark (Diospyros whyteana) ♡ Hard Pear (Olinia ventosa) ♡ Milkwood (Sideroxylon inerme) ♡ Saffronwood (Cassine peragua)
♡ White Pear (Apodytes dimidiata) ♡ Umvumvu (Celtis africana) ♡ Bush Olive (Olea africana) ♡ Wild Peach (Kiggelaria africana)

I took my Black Bark tree mist with on holiday recently and it was so refreshing to spray some mist on my face because the drive to St Helena Bay was kind of long. It doesn't leave any stickiness on the face and it really lifted my spirits because it is seriously so refreshing.

Black Bark smells like citrus mixed with jasmine but the citrus scent is very dominant. You can smell a hint of the Cape Malva scent and I think that's where the citrus smell comes from.
Bush Olive smells very earthy with a hint of mint. I prefer the Black Bark scent way more than the Bush Olive.

Black Bark (Diospyros whyteana)* – blended with essential oils of Boswellia carterii (frankincense), Artemisia afra (wilde als)*, Pelargonium graveolens (Cape malva )* and Jasminum officinale (jasmine).
Bush Olive (Olea africana)* – blended with essential oils of Rosemarinus officinalis (rosemary)*, Eriocephalus pantulatus (Cape chamomile)* and Commiphora myrrha (myrrh).

Black Bark and Bush Olive has a very light weight texture of the skin. It doesn't leave any sticky residue on the face and it soaks in the skin without any gross feeling.

I absolutely LOVE the packaging of the tree mists simply because it is simple. It's very earthy and clean and it represents the Rain Africa brand perfectly! I love the fact that it's a tube like bottle because it's so convenient to just pop in my handbag. The spritz mechanism makes it easy for application and it distributes evenly on my face. It also comes in a cute beige baggy.

R125.00 per tree mist.
For a 10ml, I do think it's a bit pricey but eh, that's just my opinion.

Overall, I love this product for travelling far distances or if you need a quick refresher!

Did you know that Rain Africa promises;
♡ no parabens
♡ no petroleum jelly
♡ no mineral oil
♡ no liquid paraffin
♡ no petrochemicals
♡ no animal testing
♡ no child labour

Instagram Roundup #1

Hi everyone,

If you're not following me on Instagram, firstly shame on you and secondly here are my last 10 Instagram posts :)
1. Inhale Exhale bathbomb from Lush has a sweet note in the center of the bathbomb. I love surprises in the Lush bathbombs. It's exciting!

2. Bubblegum Ice Cream from Snoekies in Hout Bay was so yummy! We went out for a family day to Hout Bay for lunch at Snoekies. It was extremely full and we waited probably 45 minutes for lunch. I love their prawn poppers so I guess the 45 minutes was worth it. Wait, nah! Who am I kidding??? IT SUCKED!

3. Phoenix Rising bathbomb from Lush is definitely my favourite bathbomb because it smells, looks and feels amazing!

4. Woolworths Vanilla Chai Tea & Typo Glass Mug. I recently bought this Typo mug for R40. Yes, R40! It was on special and for some odd reason I can't pass up anything that's on special.

5.  It's Raining Men shower gel & Honey I Washed The Kids soap is my favourite Lush scent.
I wish they would make a Lush perfume of this scent. It smells like sweet toffee!

6. Crayfish braai because a family day isn't complete without some sort of braai. We bought some crayfish on our recent family getaway to St. Helena Bay and decided to braai the rest of the crayfish.

7. Lord of Misrule bathbomb from Lush is in my top 5 favourite Lush bathbombs because it smells amazing and it makes me feel really relaxed.

8. Videographer for the weekend, holla. I am a Multimedia Technology graduate but I would really love to specialize in Videography. It's definitely in my future plans to study Videography.

9. I voted! I felt like such a grown up voting and shit.

10. MAC Cyber satin lipstick is one MAC lipstick that I felt wasn't a complete rip off for buying because let's be real, ladies...R185.00 for a lipstick?? Sheeewww. Like I feel sucky buying a lipstick THAT expensive but I haven't come across a drugstore brand that has a colour like Cyber. So I was like, " it!".

Are you on Instagram? If I'm not following you, please comment down below with your handle and I would gladly follow you :)

Tag: Random Questions accompanied by GIFs!

Hi everyone,

Yes, this is not a Lush post. I thought I'd do something "fun" and do a tag post because I'm not really good at any other type of post lol. Anyways! This tag is the Random Questions tag and I thought I would spice it up and add a ton of GIFs because it's funny and stuff.

Okay. Enjoy. Whatever.

1. What's a nickname only your family calls you?
- They call me by my name. So formal and lame, I know!
Fancy pants shizz.
2. What's a weird habit of yours?
- Everything I do is weird and embarrassing. That is just my life.
Well, my mom thinks so.
3. Do you have any weird phobias?
- Yes. I hate those people who dress up like Barney, Bugs Bunny, Pooh Bear, Hello Kitty, etc. It freaks my shit out.
This is what nightmares are made of!
4. What's a song you secretly LOVE to blast and belt out when you're alone?
- Whatever Happens by Michael Jackson. Honestly, that song is amazing and I don't think anyone would jam out on it in secret.
This is me while listening to it :D
5. What's one of your biggest pet peeves?
- I hate it when people underestimate me. Give me the proper resources and I will make magic happen.
Uhm. Duh!
6. What's one of your nervous habits?
- I fix my hair when I'm nervous.
Well, not exactly like this but I think you get the picture.
7. What side of the bed do you sleep on?
- I have a single bed so I guess in the middle? lol.

8. What was your first stuffed animal and it's name?
- It was a duck that I got in my Lovebox from a student in USA. I called it Ducky because I was SOOO creative when I was 8. I have a love/hate relationship with ducks. They're cute and stuff but they wanna peck out your eyes and that's kind of scary.
The internet lies! Ducks are NOT awesome like the one above!
Wait. Is this even a duck???
9. What's the drink you ALWAYS order at Vida e Caffe?

- What kind of question is that? I face towards the shower nozzle.
12. Do you have any 'weird' body 'skills'?
- Uhh...I don't think so.
I'll get back to you on that.

- Oreos. Oreo pudding. Oreo chocolate bark. Slutty Brownies with Oreos. Anything Oreo. I looooove Oreos.
O-re-o, oreee-o. O-re-o, oreee-o. O-re-o, oreee-o.
(If you sang it like the Oreos doing the March of the Oreos in Wreck-It Ralph then HOLLA, booboo!)
They're magical, yo.
14. What's a phrase or exclamation you always say?
- An "okay" followed by a...
I'm always giving people the stank look.
15. Time to sleep - what are you ACTUALLY wearing?
I really wanted to use this GIF because cute.
If you're keen then I tag you to do this tag :D Comment or tweet me the link so I can laugh at yours too because these questions are a bit ridiculous.

Until next time..
