Review: My Pretty Face Place | Online Store

Hi everyone,

I've been getting A LOT of questions about where I purchased my eos lip balms. My sweetest bestie bought me 4 flavours when he was in New York and then I purchased 2 more online and I purchased an eos holiday gift set that included an eos lip balm and an eos hand lotion.

And now Jammys, I would like to introduce to you a  website called...

I done a little interview with Samantha from My Pretty Face Place and here's what went down...

TJJ: Where did the name My Pretty Face Place come from?
MPFP: The name My Pretty Face Place developed over time. We wanted a name that would make our customers feel comfortable, like this was their space to browse, shop and find the things they want at amazing prices (In Australia the Core Collection is over double the price in the US! Insane!). And all of our customers are beautiful, so we knew we could fit the word "pretty" in there! We just really wanted to name to reflect that the store is about you, our customer. Our goal is to make you happy, and this is your place to find all the things that make you feel pretty.

TJJ: How did it all start?
MPFP: Fortunately for me, Real Techniques is very available in the United States. My first set of Real Techniques brushes was the Core Collection, and it was instant love! I, like many of our customers, wanted to find a bargain and buy more. My fiance was searching the internet for me and saw that prices on Real Techniques were actually higher online as people tried selling them internationally. So, we saw an opportunity and began selling Real Techniques. We started working with the manufacturer and were able to start selling Real Techniques around the world at US prices. It's really fun talking to people from all around the world everyday!

TJJ: How long have you been running this amazing online store?
MPFP: We started our own website in July of 2013.  It's incredible to see how it's grown.

TJJ: Which brands do you stock?
MPFP: The products you will always find in stock on My Pretty Face Place are by Real Techniques, EcoTools, Sigma Beauty, eos and e.l.f. Cosmetics. We are trying to create partnerships with additional brands to offer more to our customers, but it's difficult for a new website to do that right away. We do add products when we find a deal on them, such as NYX, Stila, and we still have a few of the Lorac Pro Palettes available after getting a ton of requests!

TJJ: 5 years from now, where do you see My Pretty Face Place?
MPFP:: In every man, woman and child's web history. Just kidding (sort of)! Five years from now, I hope to see My Pretty Face Place as a well established, thriving store that offers our international customers the brands they want that are hard to find in their countries. Right now we're trying to work with different shipping companies to see if we can get better prices on shipping and quicker delivery. That would be amazing, and is a top priority right now. We have so many ideas that we throw around, but it will take time to make those a reality. Hopefully in five years we will see all our visions come true!

My experience with My Pretty Face Place:
I placed my order a week before my birthday because one of the products were on my Birthday Wishlist and then I got immediate confirmation saying that my payment has gone through and it has been shipped off. Attached was my tracking number as well. I was excited!
I only got it a month later (I'm guessing because of the Post Office strike in the Western Cape). When I finally received my goodies, it was tightly sealed so there was absolutely no damages or any tampering with my package. The first thing I pulled out of the package was my invoice that had a cute hand written note on it. Now this written note really showed a lot. It showed that My Pretty Face Place values their customers and that they actually take note of what their customers tweet. Samantha thanked me for my order and wished me a happy birthday, you guys. Honestly, I thought this was so thoughtful. See the note here.
My exact reaction!
Now the main reason why I love My Pretty Face Place so much is because they are SO affordable! I've been searching all over for genuine eos products because I have come across a few stores that are selling fake eos lip balms (according to some of the reviews) so you can imagine my excitement when I saw all the good reviews from My Pretty Face Place because I finally found a reliable store! It's $3.99 (ZAR42.40) for one eos lip balm and shipping depends on the weight of the product. The way I see it, the shipping cost would be the price of me getting my father to drive me to the mall and back and thinking about it like that makes sense for shipping to be over R50.

Overall, I am extremely pleased with the service of My Pretty Face Place. I would highly recommend them to anyone who is interested in buying international products from a trustworthy site.

Guest Blogger: Purple Sparkle's Fridays Favourite Five

Hi everyone,

Over the past few days I've been chatting with Priya, a fellow blogger and Beauty Bulletin member, and we decided to do guest posts on each others blogs. This weeks theme is Fridays Favourite Five!

1. Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Skin Protectant Cream: this is my favourite cream which I own. It is basically a miracle cream which can be used on cuts, bruises, dry skin, dry cracked heels, sometimes I even use it to set my eyebrows. Since Winter is coming up soon, I will definitely turn to this wonder cream to make skin feel and look amazing. Retails for R179 at Foschini, Edgars or Elizabeth Arden Counters.

2. MAC Rebel Satin Lipstick: what can the blogger of purple sparkle love more than a deep plum lipstick? NOTHING!!! I was introduced to the MAC Rebel by one of my fellow bloggers and I seriously can't get over it, I love everything about it, from the colour, to the silky finish. It's a perfect shade for this Autumn & definitely to show off this Winter. Retails at R185 at all MAC Counters.

3. Staedtler Hair Chalks: I waited so patiently for a whole year before this branded hair chalk hit Durban shelves. I am so glad I purchased this hair chalk, because it is perfect if you want a splash of colour without any commitment. The colour pigments are great... they are fresh, vibrant and suitable for all hair types and colours! It is simple to use and easier to remove. Retails at R100 at selected Checkers Hyper Stores.

4. Physicians Formula Super BB Cream: I noticed this BB cream while browsing in Dis-Chem and next thing you know, this is my favourite product right now. It has a good consistency, an even better coverage and it lasts on skin quite long. Plus, the packaging is super cute. The Super BB range includes a powder and a concealer, each sold separately. Retails at R210 for the BB Cream, at selected Dis-Chem Physicians Formula Counters.

5. L'Oreal Miss Manga Mega Volume Mascara: I purchased this mascara while being in Dubai on holiday and WOW, say hello to the most amazing lashes ever. It easily transforms lashes to long gorgeous eye catching ones. It has a flexible brush and is simple and easy to use. Let's not forget the cute metallic hot pink and black packaging! Retails at R139 at all L'Oreal Counters.

My Lip Care Routine + Review

Hi everyone,

I think it is so important to look after your lips because it's like the first thing people see when they look at you. Imagine coming up to someone and they have crusty ass lips, what would your reaction be?? Yeah -__-

My routine takes less than 5 minutes to do and the fact that it's really effective makes it even better.
In my routine, I only use two products and a toothbrush to get amazingly soft and healthy lips.

My lip care routine:
eos lip balm in Sweet Mint R43.47 | Lush lip scrub in Mint Julips R95.00

Step 1:
Twice a week I will scrub my lips with the lip scrub using a toothbrush. It will usually be on a Sunday and then a Thursday. On the other days, I will use my finger to lightly exfoliate my lips.

Step 2:
I will apply a thick layer of my favourite lip balm, which is my eos lip balm in Sweet Mint.

And that's it! Yes! It is that simply :D Two incredibly easy steps to get amazing lips. It leaves my lips feeling fresh, soft and smelling yummy!

Let's talk about the products I used.

Lush lip scrub in Mint Julips:
Excuse the messy container. It was purchased last year sometime.
What Lush has to say about this lip scrub:
Mint-chocolate pout polish
Just like the scrumptious cocktail served in hot southern summers, Mint Julips is packed full of fresh peppermint and sweet castor sugar. Peppermint is responsible for that ‘tingly feeling’ you get after brushing your teeth or using lip balm, so we thought it would make a perfect addition to our lip scrub! Plus, it makes Mint Julips tastes like a big, creamy bowl of mint chocolate chip ice cream.

Castor Sugar , Organic Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia chinensis) , Vanilla Extract (Vanilla planifolia) , Tagetes Oil (Tagetes minuta) , Peppermint Oil (Mentha piperita) , *Limonene , Flavor

Featured Ingredient:
Vanilla Extract (Vanilla planifolia)

What The Jam Jar has to say about this lip scrub:
I wasn't going to purchase this lip scrub but my mother decided that she would pick it up for herself and after using it for a week, she fell inlove with it. Sooo, I decided to "borrow" it from my mother and ever since then I can see why she fell inlove with it.

Lush Mint Julips lip scrub is gentle on the lips and the scent is gentle on the nose as well. I really like this lip scrub because it's gentle for daily usage. The castor sugar is quite fine so it's not that harsh on the lips. I do a light exfoliation on the days I don't use it with a toothbrush. The daily usage keeps my lips crust free because I tend to lick my lips constantly.

The one thing that I kind of dislike about this lip scrub (and I would probably dislike it with all sugar based lip scrubs) is that it is very sticky. It's not like a big thing but it gets a bit annoying.

Would I purchase this again?

eos lip balm in Sweet Mint:
You can purchase eos lip balms on My Pretty Face Place.
What eos has to say about this lip balm:
Smooth on the refreshing essence of sweet mint and give your lips the moisture they crave.
eos lip balm in Sweet Mint is 95% organic, 100% natural, and paraben and petrolatum free. Packed with antioxidant-rich vitamin E, soothing shea butter and jojoba oil, eos keeps your lips moist, soft and sensationally smooth.

♡ Long-lasting moisture ♡ Shea butter & vitamin E ♡ Smoothes on clear ♡ Precisely glides on lips
♡ Paraben-frees ♡ Petrolatum-free ♡ Twist-off top ♡ Gluten-free
♡ 0.25 oz ♡ Phthalate-free

Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil*, Beeswax (Cire D'abeille)*, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil*, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil*, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil*, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)*, Stevia Rebaudiana Leaf/Stem Extract*, Tocopherol, Limonene**, Linalool**. *Organic. **Component of Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil*. Certified Organic by Oregon Tilth.

Again, excuse the messy container lol.
What The Jam Jar has to say about this lip balm:
The first time I saw eos lip balms was in a video tutorial by Michelle Phan. I was smitten by this adorable cute lip balm! Last year sometime, my bestie got me 4 eos lip balms from his NYC trip and I bought a few online from My Pretty Face Place (for a very reasonable price).

It's definitely one of the most moisturizing lip balms I've ever used. It doesn't make my lips glossy, which I really like. It creates a matt surface to apply lipstick with ease. My lips feels moisturized for the longest time EVER! The Sweet Mint scented eos leaves my lips feeling fresh and tingly. The scent isn't too heavy, it very light and subtle. Sweet Mint is one of my favourite scents of the eos lip balm range.

I think the only thing I dislike about this lip balm is that you can't really put it in your shirt pocket or jeans because uuhh yah, it's going to look weird. Other than that, all eos lip balms are AH-MA-ZING!

Would I purchase this again?

I like pairing the same scents so this combo works perfectly together!
I can assure you with a similar lip routine, your lips can be as poppin' as mine :P lol. Oh gosh, that was lame.

Do you have any lip care recommendations?
Let me know in the comments below :)

Review: Lush Honey Bee Bath Bomb

Hi everyone,

I popped into Lush Cavendish hoping that they would have their Easter and Mother's Day collection in already but meh, they didn't :( I was kind of bummed however, I did pick up some bath bombs and soap (for my daddy lol)

I've picked up and sniffed Honey Bee probably a 1000 times but I never end up taking it. It's not the prettiest of bath bombs but the smell is BEAUTIFUL!

Honey Bee:
Honey Bee Bath Bomb |  R42.50
What Lush has to say about this bath bomb:
Warming honey-toffee hugs for a soothing soak and soft skin
What’s all the buzz about our glorious, best-selling toffee-scented globe? It could be the addictive scent of honey and toffee with mood lifting sweet orange oil. Or, it could be the Moroccan Rhassoul mud to gently deep cleanse and soften your skin. Perhaps it’s the calming aloe vera that makes the bath water silky soft. Maybe it has something to do with all of the skin soothing honey we pack into each Bath Bomb to soften you up and keep your skin moisturized. The only way to find out is to try one.

This bath bomb smells amazing!
Sodium Bicarbonate , Citric Acid , Rhassoul Mud , Honey (Mel) , Fragrance , Aloe Vera Extract (Aloe barbadensis) , Organic Aloe Vera Gel (Aloe barbadensis) , Sweet Wild Orange Oil (Citrus sinensis) , Bergamot Oil (Citrus Aurantium bergamia) , Gardenia Extract (Gardenia jasminoides) , *Limonene

Featured Ingredient:
Rhassoul Mud

What The Jam Jar has to say about this bath bomb:
This yellow ball of sunshine doesn't create a pretty spectrum of colours in the tub but it sure does an amazing job at relaxing the body and the mind.

It's a semi-slow fizzing bath bomb that leaves the bathroom smelling of sweet toffee and cake mixed with a subtle citrusy scent. The scent is very strong so I would advise sensitive noses to stay away from the bath bomb because it might cause irritation. It smells NOTHING like pure honey. It smells amazing!

Even though I could clearly see the essential oils, my tub had almost no residue and it didn't stain my nails either. Just a quick wipe cleaned up all the residue, which is a plus!

Honey Bee is extremely good for irritated skin because it soothes and calms any type of skin irritation. I have eczema and it didn't even flare up so yay!

One thing I didn't like about this bath bomb is that it's a bit sandy. I think that the rhassoul mud doesn't dissolve completely then you're left with a sandy bottom (lol. Bottom). It's not a train smash but it feels a bit uncomfortable. After a while it does dissolve completely.

It makes your water look like wee :') lol.
Would I purchase this again?
Yes, ma'am.

Have you tried Honey Bee before? What are your thoughts about it?

Until next time..

Review: Lush Dragon's Egg Bath Bomb

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased Dragon's Egg and I was pretty excited to use it. I don't know why but I always gave it a miss when visiting Lush. I like things that are visually appealing and this bath bomb looks very plain and simple.

I've seen a ton of reviews about Dragon's Egg but I still never had the urge to buy it. It looked pretty but eh, I don't know -_-

Dragon's Egg:
Dragon's Egg Bath Bomb| R44.50
What Lush has to say about this bath bomb:
Citrus sherbet-scented fizzy firecracker
Unleash fire and bathe in a whirlpool of magnificently vibrant, sizzling color and a spectacular explosion of sights, sounds, and scents. Inhale the refreshing sherbet-y citrus scent of lemon and bergamot; you'll feel like you're up and away on the back of your own dragon. This mystical Bath Bomb fizzles, crackles, curls, and ends with a glitter explosion. Citrus oils are known for their invigorating effect on the mind, and Dragon's Egg is no exception! Drop one of these into the bath for a serious wake-up call on groggy mornings, or before an evening out.

Foamy bubbles.
Sodium Bicarbonate (Sodium Bicarbonate), Citric Acid (Citric Acid), Perfume (Perfume), Popping Candy, Lemon Oil (Citrus limonum), Bergamot Oil (Citrus aurantium bergamia), Jasmine Absolute (Jasminum grandiflorum), Cream of Tartar (Tartaric acid), Water (Aqua), Gardenia Extract (Gardenia jasminoides), Sodium Laureth Sulfate (Sodium Laureth Sulfate), Propylene Glycol (Propylene Glycol), Lauryl Betaine (Lauryl Betaine), *Citral (*Citral), *Limonene (*Limonene), *Linalool (*Linalool), Gold Lustre, Radiant Gold Lustre, Colour 15510 (Colour 15510), Colour 17200 (Colour 17200), Colour 14700 (Colour 14700), Colour 45410 (Colour 45410), Rice Paper (Rice Paper)

Featured Ingredient:
Lemon Oil (Citrus limonum)

What The Jam Jar has to say about this bath bomb:
The first thing that came to mind while watching this bath bomb do its thang in my tub was fluffy! The amount of foam this bath bomb produces is amazing! And the foam isn't just for show. The foam is like a soft cloud like layer over the water and when you get in, it hugs your body and clears your mind with it's citrusy scent. I wasn't too keen on this bath bomb because I don't really like citrus scented products but oh boy was I wrong about this bath bomb.

I like the fact that it's all white and then this beautiful gold sparkly glitter comes shooting out of the sides of the bath bomb creating a beautiful visual. I have to admit that I thought this bath bomb was going to be kind of boring but again, I was wrong!

One thing I didn't like and don't really understand about this bath bomb is the confetti. Once it hits the water, it starts getting all slimy and kind of serves no purpose because the colour starts fading and then it starts looking like floating pieces of snot. It looks cute peaking out of the bath bomb and all but after a while it doesn't -_-

Dragon's Egg turns the bath water a pretty golden colour. It looked kind of gross in my black bath but in the white bath it looks pretty!

Overall, I like this bath bomb. It really soothes the mind and calms the soul (lol. what am I saying???).

It was like magic!!
What a gorgeous golden colour??
Would I purchase this again?
Yes, I would!

Have you tried Dragon's Egg before? What are your thoughts about it?

Review: Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain™ in 005 Crush

Hi everyone,

My blogger bestie, City Girl Vibe, shared some of her birthday goodies with me last week Saturday when we went to the Design Indaba. Sweet, hey?? She gave me the most amazing Balm Stain EVER! I am smitten with this Balm Stain, you guys.

I really loved the first Just Bitten Lip Stain + Balm that came out but it got discontinued for some odd reason. However, Revlon came out with something way better! The Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain™ :D

Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain™ in 005 Crush
What Revlon has to say about this Balm Stain:
- Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain gives softer, smoother lips with a perfect flush of color that lasts hour after hour.
- The gel formula comes in 12 vibrant shades that match any look or mood.
- Lightweight Lipstain + Moisturizing Balm
- 100% of women who tried it felt their lips were instantly moisturized with a soft stain of color
- Retractable chubby crayon, no sharpener required

This colour is a dark plum / ox blood kind of colour.
What The Jam Jar has to say about this Balm Stain:
I've been wearing this for 2 weeks now and I'm OBSESSED. It's definitely long-lasting and highly pigmented. I always had a thing for plumy lip products and this colour is perfect!

- Packaging:
The colour of the balm stain is a similar colour to the container. It has silver writing on it and the twist mechanism is silver as well. It's pretty yet simple. I love the fact that it has a twist mechanism because having to sharpen lip crayons are always such a shlep and sometimes the edges of the crayon can hurt your lips. It's hassle free and easy to apply.

- Formula:
The formula of this balm stain is AH-MA-ZING! It's lightweight and moisturizing. There are tiny golden shimmers in the formula but it doesn't transfer on your lips, which is a great plus for me because I hate lip products with shimmer or glitter. Like I'm not 10 years old anymore -_-

- Pigment:
The pigmentation for this balm stain is gorgeous! You can use it as a sheer washed out colour or a dark bold colour. I love the fact that it's buildable. Sometimes I don't want to do a dark lip but I want a wash of colour that won't fade after the first 30 minutes after application. The fact that it stays on for so long is another plus! I've been wearing this for my job at the Baxter and WOW! I fell inlove with it after my first shift. I apply it just before I leave the house, which is around 6:45pm and by the time I come home, which is between 10:30pm and 11:00pm and my lips still look amazing! The gloss fades a bit but the colour still looks fresh and it leaves your lips looking healthy. Most Matt Lip Stains can leave your lips looking dry but definitely not this Balm Stain!

Swatchy - Swatchy
Handchain from Vintage and The City.
- Scent:
I'm glad that this isn't a yucky artificial fruity smell because I dislike that kind of smells. I was pleasantly surprised that it has a fresh minty scent. When I applied it, my lips started tingling and the peppermint scent isn't that strong, it's very subtle and fades after a while.

Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain™ in 005 Crush
- Price:
I'm not sure if the price is the same everywhere but on Red Square online, it retails for R120.

- Availability:
Selected pharmacies, online stores and department stores.

Would I purchase it again?

Overall, I love this product. I don't think I can find anything wrong with this balm stain :D

Have you tried this balm stain before? If so, then let me know in the comments below how you found it :)

Tag: 10 Things you don't know about me

Hi everyone,

The quirky Leana from Hipstyler, pretty and Ginger tagged me and a few other lovelies in one of her recent blog posts called "10 Things you don't know about me". So as the title suggests, I will tell you 10 things hardly anyone knows about me.

1. My room is always messy. Honestly, I don't have the plak to clean my room. I start cleaning it then I get bored or tired or distracted and then I will just make up an excuse as to why I can't continue to clean it. I call it an organized mess though but whaa'evvvaaar.
Yep. Basically.
2. I get annoyed so easily by anything and anyone. Like, don't be stupid around me. I am generally a nice person but I can't handle people sometimes. I tend to just distance myself, however I do like being in the company of people...but in small dosages.
My sister knows me too well :D
3. I am OBSESSED with A$AP Rocky.
Hey boo.

4. The picture below can bring me to tears because I live online. I don't watch TV anymore so I depend a lot on my laptop and the interwebs.
I can't stand this freaking Dinosaur. Bitch!
5. I give up very quickly. This includes; friendships, blog posts, hobbies where I have to interact with people, doing a cat-eye, trying to cook, cleaning my room and the list goes on.
I just don't like struggling. It's such an effort, man. Meh.
My life everyday.
6. I sleep with a night light because I'm a baby pants.
Ain't no ghost face nigger getting me. Huh uh, booboo.
7. I own a paintball gun and I'm very good with it as well.
Yep, I have a Hello Kitty sticker on my marker :)
8. I don't like editing other peoples pictures for shits and giggles. I'm sorry but I did not study 3 years to edit a tacky looking image of yours. Off with you!! Just because you want a new profile picture doesn't mean that you have to ask me.
9. I'm the overly sensitive one between my brother and sister lol. My mother always tells me that I'm too sensitive. She's right. No matter how tough I act, I am such a soppy pants.
Me everyday.
10. I'm a loner. NO, I'm not those idiots that looks for attention by saying "Forever Alone" and shit like that. I just like being by myself most of the time. I would rather sit in a corner and listen to music than socialize.
Surprisingly, I've said this before.
If you're keen then I tag you to tell me 10 things that I don't know about you :) Link your post in the comments.

Until next time..
