Event: Magnum Pink and Black

Hi everyone,

I attended the Magnum Pink and Black Event at Shimmy Beach Club (30/10). It wasn't what I expected but if it wasn't for the people I was with I probably would've had a poopy time. Buuuuut anyways....

The event was to launch their two new flavours, Pink Pomegranate and Black Espresso. I am not a lover of coffee so I chose the Pink Pomegranate and I kind of enjoyed it. I don't usually eat creamy suckers for some odd reason. What really intrigued me about the Pink Pomegranate is that it has a shimmer to the hard chocolate which is SO pretty! I love it!

I came a bit late to the event because I had to work but I got there JUST in time for their Twitter Auction. As I approached the entrance to the event I spotted Nabilah getting her nails done at the Yemaya Express | Nail Bar and I saw my amazing photographer buddy Amina and the beautiful RuBe's Closet.

I had an awesome time with the girls. Here's some pictures to prove it ;)

Yay! Go Amina! Whoohoo!
And the best picture of the day was...................

Until next time..

✿ Jenni Button unveils Spring Summer 13/14 Collection ✿

Hi everyone,

So, it's time again when designers release their Spring / Summer 2013/14 collections and in this post I will be covering Jenni Button's perf collection for Spring / Summer 2013/14.

Jenni Button, synonymous with glamour, elegance and sophistication, has 13 stores in South Africa as well as a Bridal&Couture studio in the heart of Cape Town.

Jenni Button's new Spring / Summer 2013/14 collection is inspired by modernized contemporary abstract art and architecture. I think this line is actually perfect for summer because it has a very whimsy but minimalist touch to it.

The ready to wear collection was inspired by artist Anish Kapoor renowned for his breathtaking minimalist sculptures with sensual curves and lines.

Whaaaaat?? You can use architecture for inspiration to designing clothing??

Side note:
Sir (Yes! Sir!) Anish Kapoor is an Indian-born British sculptor that is known for his brilliant sculptures such as Tees Valley Giants, Cloud Gate, ArcelorMittal Orbit and Sky Mirror. *Stunning, hey??*
He has won countless awards and honours in his name. Extraordinary? I think so.

Tees Valley Giants | Cloud Gate | ArcelorMittal Orbit | Sky Mirror

Back to the collection...

Anish Kapoor's style of architecture can be seen in Jenni Button’s iconic jackets and dresses, whilst the seam lines are meticulously positioned to draw ones eye to the female form. Trousers, skirts, shorts and blouses are likewise a reflection of these lines with a subtle angularity.

The colour scheme is grounded by neutrals of white, stone, ink and black; layered onto this is a
bust of energy and colour. The warmer hues incorporated are red, hot pink, coral, blush and nude, while the cooler hues are electric blue, sky blue, aqua and mint, with a fine balance of brights and pastels found throughout the collection.

My two fave dresses!
Jenni Button combined two contrasting effects and made it work,  it is masculine yet feminine, bold and angular yet soft and subtle. Clean minimalistic aesthetic, added into the collection is a burst of metallic and encrusted embellishment.

Jenni Button, synonymous with glamour, elegance and sophistication takes the Couture Collection to exciting new heights this season, whether one-off pieces for formal evening wear occasions, beaded cocktail dresses for glamorous parties or even wedding dresses. Always reinventing, Jenni Button has become the benchmark of luxury in South Africa and are regularly flaunted by a host of A-list celebrities.

Honestly, I love the look of this collection. I am into neutral tones with just a splash of colour. I think this collection is perfect for a beautifully sunny day out or even a hot night out on the town.

The Jenni Button Spring Summer 2013/14 Collection is available at Jenni Button’s 13 stores countrywide. For more info, call Jenni Button’s studio on 021 461 1207, or visit Jenni Button SA.

Until next time..

I've been nominated...AGAIN??

Hi everyone,

Yesterday I got nominated by two bloggers (Lisa-Jade from Life Like Mine and Leana Henke from Hipstyler, pretty and Ginger) for a Liebster Blog Award. In my previous post I explained what a LBA is and you can check that out here.
So let's get right into it.

My questions from Leana Henke from Hipstyler, pretty and Ginger:

1. If you could switch lives with anyone in the world for one day, who would it be and why?
Nicki Minaj - A music career, an acting career, endorsed by Nokia, Pepsi, Mattel, MAC Cosmetics, OPI, Adidas, Beats Electronics, Myx Fusions and the list doesn't stop there, has her own clothing line called "The Nicki Minaj Collection", has her own perfume line AND she has a pink Lambo...Uhm, who wouldn't want to be Nicki Minaj?? LOL!

2. Tell me about your favorite pet.
My favourite pets was my two bunnies, Sniffles and Sanchez. My friend was looking for a home for her bunny and I thought "what the heck? I have a home for it, I love bunnies so I might as well take it". What she forgot to tell me that the bunny was a huge ass obese bunny that didn't hop like normal bunnies, it walked..like a cat -_- She was still adorable. My sister looked after her while I was at school and she always use to let Sniffles roam around in the house. One day, I was walking home with a friend and I saw my bunny under a car. She looked so scared and helpless! I looked for a box and picked her up and I put her in the box. I walked home feeling like such a hero because I rescued my bunny from dying on the street! I finally got home with this massive box just to find out that my bunny (Sniffles) was actually safe in our house and that I stole someone elses bunny -_- I didn't want to give bunny #2 back so just kept her as well and named her Sanchez. So yaaah, that's how I ended up with two bunnies :D

3. If you could go anywhere on holiday, where would you go – money isn’t an issue.
I would go to Nicaragua, Rio de Janeiro, Amsterdam, Singapore, Hawaii, Thailand, USA and Spain.

4. When you run into an ex, what do you do?
Basically.
5. What is your favorite fragrance?
Nicki Minaj - Pink Friday. Duh!

6. Little Black dress or red lipstick?
Red Lipstick.

7. If the Backstreet Boys were the only guys alive, who would you marry?
Nick Carter.

8. Vampires or Werewolves?
If it's Aidan from Being Human (US) then Vampire.

9. What do you look for an a friend – elaborate.
I need someone that can be crazy with me and that can eat weird things with me too. Loyalty and honesty is a must. Obviously we need to have things in common. Heck, I don't actually know. I'll be friends with anyone who isn't fake. I hate fake people. Like just go shoot yourself, fake people.

10. What is your best colds and flues remedy?
Uhm...drugs.

So I will be tagging another 10 bloggers to answer the questions in my previous nomination post.

And the nominations are:
1. Yumna - Cooked Culture
2. Iptishaam - Stitched The Blog
3. Imka - Glamorous Glitter
4. Nicole - Budgetista Fashionista

6. Lauren - CKO - Cool Kids Only
7. Lauren - Lipgloss Ninja (Waka!)
8. Mishka - Call Me Zeena
9. Charlene - High Heels and Fairy Tales
10. Layla - The Ethereal Deal

My questions for you ladies are as follows:

2. What do you listen to while blogging? (Music, audio books, tv for background noise lol, etc)
3. Which beauty item is your holy grail?
4. What's your favourite tv show?
5. If you had to pick between a muffin and a cupcake, which one would you take?
6. How many times have you burnt yourself with a hot styling tool? (Lol all girls (and some guys) somehow have burnt themselves)
7. If you could be any Disney character, which one would you be? and Why?
8. Horror? Comedy? Action? Thriller? Romcom?
9. Fill in the missing words: I would rather "_______________" than "_______________"
(Ex: I would rather eat cockroaches than touch the sledgehammer from Miley Cyrus' Wreaking Ball video)
10. If you could have anything made in your honour, what would it be? and Why? (Perfume, clothing line, jewelry, makeup products, etc)
11. Coca-Cola or Pepsi or ________? (I  ♡ Pepsi, btw)

Thank you so much Leana for nominating me ^_^
It's the best feeling ever :D
Until next time..

Liebster Blog Award - EEK!

Hi everyone,

The lovely Lisa-Jade from Life Like Mine tweeted me earlier saying that she nominated The Jam Jar for *drumroll* a Liebster Blog Award.

Some people might not take this award seriously, but for me...It's kind of an amazing thing to be nominated. The fact that someone recognized your blog and appreciates it for what it is, is a really awesome feeling!

WHOO-HOO!

What is a Liebster Blog Award?
A Liebster Blog Award is basically a little chain letter that gets passed on from blog to blog. I done some research and the rules has changed a bit. The oldest LBA that can be traced online (most of the posts are either deleted or the users have changed domains, platforms, etc) is 2010. From what I read that the word "Liebster" means "Dearest" in German and that you have to nominate 3-5 favorite bloggers who have less than 3,000 readers. It's basically blog appreciation and creating exposure for a blog too.

Now the criteria is you have to nominate 10 bloggers, provide them with 11 questions to answer and they have to come up with 11 questions in return for their nominations and the nominee has to have 200 or less readers.

My questions from Lisa-Jade from Life Like Mine:

1) When did you decide to start blogging?
I started blogging at the beginning of this year. 12 February 2013 to be exact.

2) What was the best comment from one of your readers that you've received?
There isn't really a "best" comment because every comment I get is the best for me. I really appreciate anyone that takes the time to read and comment on my blog.

3) Would you dye your hair green?
Hells yeah! Okay maybe not my entire head, but maybe just my last layer.

4) If you could have any one person do a guest post on your blog, who would it be and why?
Realistically: Leana Henke from Hipstyler, pretty and Ginger, because she is just the funniest and sweetest person ever! I love how she writes. Her style is fun, quirky and just awesome! Reading her posts always makes me smile or laugh :D
Unrealistically: Nicki Minaj, because she is cray and secretly we're best friends...she just doesn't know it.

5) Who takes the pictures for your blog?
I take my own pictures :)

6) How much time does it take you (on average) to write and publish a post?
It depends on my mood / content. Most of my posts are researched and sometimes it will take a few hours, a day or even a few days.

7) What's your prefered beverage while blogging?
Anything cold. I'm not a hot beverage person. However, I do love my tea.

8) What is your dream job?
To be an amazing Senior Designer and Photographer.

9) Is your current blog title your first and only one? If not, what was it?
Yes, it is. The Jam Jar comes from my surname (Ajam...*giggles*).

10) If you could take your blog in another direction to what it is now, what would it be and why?
I would like to do more post about Technology related things seeing that I am in an industry where technology is constantly changing.

11) What is the best advice you've given to a fellow blogger?
It's YOUR blog, so don't try to be like some other blogger. Make it yours and own it, guuuurrrrrl!
Your amazingness will shine through!
WERK!!!
And the nominations are....
2. Farzaanah - Xana
3. Desle - Diva Desle
4. Shene' - Loveelii
5. Tasneem - City Girl Vibe
6. Priya - Purple Sparklez
7. Rushda - RuBe's Closet
8. Lisa-Jade - Life Like Mine
9. Ivanna - Bridge '91
10. Odette - O So Inspired

My questions for you ladies are as follows:
1. While you are writing a blog post, which position is most comfortable? (Laying down, sitting up, half up half down, etc)

Thank you SO much Lisa-Jade for the nomination! I really appreciate it!
It really just made my day even more amazing!

I've been nominated by my fave as well (Hipstyler, pretty and Ginger) so tomorrow I will post that nomination :) Two nominations in one day! I need a Tupperware to contain all my excitement, Jammys!!!

Review: Lush Relax More Wrapped Box

Hi everyone,

Recently I received a Wrapped Box a few weeks ago and GOSH! I immediately wanted to take a bath!
I've became addicted to Lush's bath products. I was extremely happy when I got this box because it consisted of two of my favourite Lush bath products - Twilight and The Comforter.
I'm testing out their hair product and all I can say is American Cream and Happy Happy Joy Joy
They're on my LLL (Lush Lust List).

I went into their Cavendish store a few weeks ago and I was greeted with an "OH!! You're back!".
I bought my favourite bath bomb, Spacegirl and one I haven't tried before called Butterball.
The staff at both Lush stores (V&A Waterfront and Cavendish Square) are just amazing! They are like little fairies that brightens up a sharty day with their amazingness! Sometimes I just go in there to chit chat with them because I have no friends. Anyways, back to my review!

Relax More Wrapped Box Review:
"The big chill"

"Lie back, relax and think of bath times! With four different relaxing bath treats plus a Therapy massage bar to melt away any lingering stresses and strains, whoever gets this gift won't be able to resist relaxing more than ever before"

This box my dear readers does exactly that! Stress? Gone! Anxiety? Gone! Negativity? Gone! It just leaves you feeling relaxed and ready for a good night sleep without any crazy brain activities.

Here is something really interesting, the Relax More wrapping is a handmade paper from Khadi (India) with a ribbon that is specially woven for Lush. They also put a lot of thought when it came to designing the colour scheme for this box. According to their website, Lush states that "turquoise is the colour of calm and serenity".

Relax More.
This gift contains: 1x The Comforter Bubble Bar 200g | 1x Therapy Massage Bar 50g |1x A French Kiss Bubble Bar |
1x Dreamtime Luxury Bath Melt | 1x Twilight Bath Ballistic
Twilight Bath Bomb:

Twilight - One of my favourite bath bombs
What Lush has to say about this bath bomb:
Let the sun set around you as you let go of the day and drift off to a world of dreams
If you are struggling to sleep, then this is perfect for using in the evenings. With lavender oil for when you need a bit of extra help to wind down.
We’ve added visuals to this bath to help your mind let go and embrace the night time. Twilight dissolves to create a growing sunset that gradually gets darker until you are finally left with the glimmer of stars.

Ingredients:
Sodium Bicarbonate, Citric Acid, Cream of Tartar, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Lavender Oil, Benzoin Resinoid, Tonka Absolute, Ylang Ylang Oil, Cocamide DEA, Lauryl Betaine, *Coumarin, *Linalool, Perfume, Colour 42090, Colour 14700, Colour 17200, Colour 45410, Lustre Silver
*occurs naturally in essential oils

Featured Ingredient:
Lavender Oil
There are about 25-30 different species of lavender belonging to the Labiatae family and we only use a few of these. French lavender oil (Lavandula angustifolia) comes from Provence. Lavendin oil (Lavandula hybrida) comes from a hybrid plant, developed by crossing true lavender and lavender spike.

What The Jam Jar has to say about this bath bomb:
Like how pretty is that??
source
I am inlove with this bath bomb. It's a slow fizzing bath bomb which I love because you can watch it fizz away. It is so mesmorzing that it would take your mind off any negativity. The colours are vibrant and amazing. It leaves a cosmic visual in your bath with vivid colours like pink, blue and purple with beautiful glimmering sparkles. You can actually feel the oils in the bath when you get in and the scent of this bath bomb lingered on my skin for the longest time ever! One down fall is the fact that the sparkles are really hard to get out of the bath. My mom actually scolded me over it because it was such an effort to get out :( Sorry, Mom!

Would I purchase this again?
HELLS YEAH!!!

A French Kiss Bubble Bar:
A French Kiss - Not that awesome but it's okay :)
What Lush has to say about this bubble bar:
Lie back and think of France. Sink into a landscape of Provence lavender fields and watch the white foam clouds drift by. Just bend your legs slightly if you want a view of your own Pyreknees!
Remember those old Hollywood films where the starlet would be in a bath with a mountain of foam covering her modesty – leaving her to seductively raise one foam covered leg for soaping? Well our Bubble Bars were designed to give exactly that amount of foam if you use the whole thing. But of course you may choose to have slightly less foam in your bath, if there are no cameras around.

Ingredients:
Sodium Bicarbonate, Cream of Tartar, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Lauryl Betaine, Perfume, Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, Cocamide DEA, Rosemary Oil, Thyme Oil, Lavender Oil, Lavender Absolute, Lavender Sprig, *Limonene, *Linalool, Colour 17200, Colour 42090

What The Jam Jar has to say about this bubble bar:
I have mixed feelings about this bubble bar. I do like it but I don't. I love the scent but I dislike the fact that it's not as potent when you put it in the water. It's like the scent dies a little. The bubbles doesn't last that long if you don't use the entire bubble bar. I've broken it up in 3 parts and each part was fairly big. I don't know what affect it has on your skin because I've always used it with a bath bomb.

Would I purchase this again?
Hmmm, I would if I had some extra money but it wouldn't be #1 on my list.

The Comforter Bubble Bar:
.
The Comforter - My favourite bubble bar. It smells like Unicorns
What Lush has to say about this bubble bar:
Berry yourself under a blanket of soft fruit foam
This isn’t called the Comforter for nothing. We threw everything we had at this one, to make it warming, comforting and reassuring. We wanted a bath that gave the same sense of safety and calm that your favourite teddy, your comfort blanket or a snuggly scarf gives. At times when you feel you need to protect yourself from the world  - immerse yourself in this pink bath and allow the familiar oils to envelop you in a comforting berry scented embrace.

Ingredients:
Sodium Bicarbonate, Cream of Tartar, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Lauryl Betaine, Perfume, Titanium Dioxide, Cocamide DEA, Bergamot Oil, Cassis Absolute, Cypress Oil, *Limonene, *Linalool, Colour 45410, Colour 17200
*occurs naturally in essential oils

Featured Ingredient:
Cassis Absolute
Blackcurrant belongs to the Grossulariaceae plant family and is native to Europe and Northern Asia. It is a small shrub that grows up to approximately 2m tall.

What The Jam Jar has to say about this bubble bar:
I done a review on this product a few months ago. You can check it out here.
Like I said in my previous review it's a 200g bubble bar that you can break off and use it for a good 3-5 baths (depending how big you break the pieces). It makes a lot of bubbles but it doesn't last long :( The scent is amazing and so potent and the scent does linger which ah-freaking-ma-zing!!!

Would I purchase this again?
HELLS YES! It's one of my favourite!

Dreamtime Luxury Bath Melt:
Dreamtime Luxury Bath Melt - I really liked this bath melt
What Lush has to say about this luxury bath melt:
When you wanna be on your own, it’s Dreamtime. All of my dreams can interlock, in Dreamtime
We made this melt for those times when you need a little extra help letting go of the day and getting yourself ready for sleep. Beautiful ingredients pamper your skin and simple oils calm the mind and allow you to enter a meditative state as you prepare for dreamtime.

Ingredients:
Cocoa Butter, Laureth 4, Almond Oil, Lavender Oil, Ginger Oil, Sandalwood Oil, Chamomile Blue Oil, Jasmine Absolute, Jasmine Flowers, *Geraniol, *Limonene, *Linalool, Perfume

What The Jam Jar has to say about this luxury bath melt:
I really liked this product but the scent can become a bit overwhelming. I cut half of this bath melt and just a half made my bath water soft and left it smelling amazing. The scent lingered on my skin and once used with the little dude below, it kind of locks in the scent of this bath melt. The essential oils really made my skin feel softer and smoother and really moisturized.

Would I purchase this again?
I would purchase it again but it won't be anytime soon.

Therapy Massage Bar:
Therapy Massage Bar - Shmurr. It's okay!
What Lush has to say about this massage bar:
Because everybody needs a little sometimes
A deceptively simple bar that knows exactly what it’s doing. 100 percent organic ingredients.
Therapy has just the right combination of cocoa butter and shea butter to melt perfectly on the skin and give you a good softening massage. But hidden in this bar are three organic essential oils that nature has blessed with potent mood affecting benefits.

Ingredients:
Fair Trade Organic Cocoa Butter, Organic Shea Butter, Organic Sweet Orange Oil, Organic Lavender Oil, Organic Neroli Oil, *Citral, *Geraniol, *Farnesol, *Limonene, *Linalool
*occurs naturally in essential oils

Featured Ingredient:
Organic Sweet Orange Oil
This oil is obtained from the peel of the sweet oranges (Citrus sinensis) by cold expression. The sweet orange is a flowering tree with glossy, evergreen leaves and thorny branches, and it is probably native to China and the Far East. They now grow all over the world and some of the main producers are Brazil, United States, Spain and Italy.

What The Jam Jar has to say about this massage bar:
I like this bar but I really struggle to heat it up.
It's really moisturizing but I feel its a bit too sticky for morning usage. I prefer using it at night then my body has the time to soak up all it's goodness.

Would I purchase this again?
Probably not because I have my eye on Shimmy Shimmy.

Bath Time goodies
(All photos were taken by The Jam Jar)

If you are wanting to get a gift for someone or even for yourself, I suggest try one of these Wrapped Boxes because it offers a variety of Lush products and who doesn't like opening up presents???
I think this box retails for just over R300 which I think is really affordable for Lush products.

**A special thank you to Stardust and Wanderlust for sending me this amazing Lush Wrapped Box**

Give Lush South Africa a cheeky like on Facebook and a follow on Twitter to receive updates on their upcoming products.
